Language training for legal aliens: a comparative legislation study - FR
Introduction
In France, the generalisation of the contract for hosting and integrating legal aliens has provided an opportunity to examine how language training for legal aliens is organised in other countries: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and the UK.
Description
The following points were analysed for each of the countries: the objective defined for language training, beneficiaries of training, content of training and monitoring of student progress, means of organisation and financing for language courses targeting legal aliens. The review of foreign legislation reveals that, with the exception of Spain, Italy and the UK, all of the countries reviewed actively target the linguistic integration of legal aliens. In fact, participation in language courses is mandatory, at least for new arrivals.
