Introduction
Final report from the Urban Task Force which was set up by the government to identify causes of urban decline in England and recommend practical solutions to bring people back into cities, towns and urban neighbourhoods.
Description
Presents the final report of the Urban Task Force (chaired by Lord Rogers), which was set up by the government to identify causes of urban decline in England and recommend practical solutions to bring people back into cities, towns and urban neighbourhoods. Sets out its findings and recommendations under the headings: (i) 'the sustainable city', covering the drivers of change, the role of design, and transport connections; (ii) 'making towns and cities work', covering the management of the urban environment, delivering urban regeneration, and skills and innovation; (iii) 'making the most of our urban assets', covering housing requirements, the planning system, managing the land supply, cleaning up the land, and recycling buildings; (iv) 'making the investment', covering attracting private investment, and the role of public investment; and (v) 'sustaining the renaissance'.
