Metropolitan Transport Plan for the area of Seville
Proposition
The transport in the Metropolitan Area of Seville is dominated by the private vehicle; the public transport has a subordinate role, while the autonomous modes of transport (cycling and walking) are marginal. It is, thus, an inefficient, unsustainable and socially unfair transport system.
Description
The main goal of the Plan is to provide the metropolitan area of Seville with a transport system that is functionally efficient, environmentally sustainable and socially cohesive.
To achieve such an integrated transport system, three basic policies must be implemented.
  • Promote public transport as the most efficient transport system.
  • Moderate and control the traffic of private vehicles.
  • Support the use of autonomous modes of transport, such as walking or cycling.
