Energy performance of buildings
Introduction
This research report gives an overview of the status of implementation of the European Directive 2002/91/EC on the energy performance of buildings and of further standards for the energy performance of buildings set in Austria, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, and Spain.
Description
The country reports from Austria, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, and Spain give an extensive review of the latest developments concerning the implementation of the directive on energy performance of buildings. Furthermore, the reports specify on the one hand the diversity of regulations set in the countries and on the other hand they show the efforts being made by the different countries to support the construction and renovation of energy efficient buildings.
EU involvement
This research project is supported by ‘Intelligent energy Europe’.
Conclusions
Energy performance requirements and legal regulations differ not only from country to country but also within those countries. The same applies for energy certification, adapting calculation methodologies and setting subsidy requirements. In order to achieve a representative output for every country, each partner was asked to specify the number of inhabitants for whom the requirements are valid, as they can affect
either provinces or regions or big cities or climatic zones.
