NOISE - Tool box for the integrated planning and management of road traffic noise
Introduction
EC LIFE project to develop a vademecum of measurement and management of urban transport noise.
Problem
The project’s aim was to elaborate and validate integrated tools to plan and manage road traffic noise in an urban context. The tools were required to integrate the parameters of traffic, road building and management within land management with a view to sustainability. The tools were intended to be used by local authorities in their management of cities but could also be used by any actor concerned with the issue.
Description
The downloadable ”Vademecum du bruit routier urbain” is a decision-making aid for the planning and integrated management of road traffic noise at the local level. It contains case studies and techniques and measures to manage urban transport noise.
Approach
The vademecum sets out how the different approaches work and the circumstances in which the different solutions can best be applied.
Results
The document sets out the benefits and cost implications of different methods and techniques designed to reduce and manage noise from urban road transport. See the website and vademecum for all findings.
Beneficiaries
Local authorities, urban transport managers, transport planners, citizens
EU involvement
This is an EC supported project under the LIFE programme.
