Introduction
Diagnosis of the strategic situation of the City of Katowice
Description
The document is the final element of the fist phase of preparation of the development strategy of the city. It is a multidimensional social, economic, spatial, infrastructure and institutional analysis that has enabled to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the city development, used in the further strategic analysis. The document structure is composed of three thematic parts. The first part contains a general characteristic of the city, taking into account its position in the agglomeration and the character of relations with other cities, social, economic and environmental situation. It also presents city districts, its central places and showcases. The second part is dedicated to a detailed analysis of the spatial, economic, social, infrastructure and institutional sphere. The third part presents results of the analysis of strategic position of Katowice in the following reference points: agglomeration, regional (Bielsko – Biała, Częstochowa, Gliwice, Katowice, Rybnik, Sosnowiec) and metropolitan (Białystok, Bydgoszcz, Gdańsk, Gdynia, Katowice, Kraków, Lublin, Łódź, Poznań, Rzeszów, Szczecin, Toruń, Warszawa, Wrocław) in three areas of interest: economic, social and infrastructure. Results of the analysis are presented in graphic and written way, with the index of indicators used for the analysis.
