Study on the preconditions and directions for the commune’s physical development of the City of Bialystok

Introduction

The Study describes spatial policy of the city creating framework for the multifunctional spatial development, improvement of quality of inhabitants life and raising regions service standard in respect with ecological balance, functional and aesthetic attractiveness of the city and stimulating Bialystok urban area development in co-operation with the neighboring communes.

Description

In the study a number of city development conditions were pointed out: historical, environmental, functional, urban and architecture. The study describes directions of physical development in particular structural zones and functional systems of the city. The document assumes continuation of the development strongly determined by the natural conditions and existing built-up area condition and the development of functional and spatial structure and at the same time pursuing to shape the new urban and architecture values and improvement of the city functioning. The spatial policy characterized in the study for the structural zones and functional systems is a base for taking action in new planning activities referring to the selected areas of the city, elaboration of consistence analysis of solutions included in prepared local plans with the accepted policy. The study is an auxiliary document in preparation of decisions on built-up area conditions under administrative process.
