Introduction

The Southern Region of Luxembourg, having been particularly struck by economic structural changes, is to be fostered by developing the region’s strengths, eg. large areas of nature, qualified employees and closeness to the capital city, thereby stopping urban sprawl and reducing the amount of daily traffic caused by commuters.

Description

The document is a synthesis of five working group reports on the issues: better quality of life through coordinated development of housing; promotion of quality of life through sustainable mobility; the South – a dynamic, attractive and competitive region; protection of nature and the environment; leisure-culture-tourism in the region. The working groups formulated recommendations for the future development of the South that were to be considered by the national and regional planning bodies when setting up the Regional Plan South.
