MEEMAS - Building environmental capacity in municipal enterprises
Introduction
MEEMAS - Building environmental capacity in municipal enterprises such as the water supply company or district heating company through EMAS (EC’s Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) implementation. EC supported LIFE project to develop a number of guidelines on applying EMAS to companies or enterprises owned by the local authority. In English and Russian.
Problem
The project aims to introduce the EC’s Eco-audit and Monitoring Scheme (EMAS) as a tool for the development of environmental policies and action programmes in municipal enterprises.
Description
Guidance documents on EMAS, activity analysis, environmental policy and programme, and environmental reviews can be viewed online.
Approach
Provides information on how EMAS can be applied to local authority companies.
EU involvement
EC supported project under the LIFE programme.
