Revitalisation program of chosen urban areas of Katowice

Description

The document defines directions of complex spatial, economic and social renewal for the areas indicated for the revitalization and allows self-governmental authorities and other eligible beneficiaries to gain sources from the European Fund of Regional Development. The main goal of the Local Revitalization Programme of the City is to restore lost functions of the city centre and to preserve the historic and cultural heritage of its oldest districts. Among the tasks which the Programme should fulfill are

the development of metropolitan functions and centre-creating services;

the enhancement of the municipal space aesthetic;

the rearrangement of the “old” urban structure;

the revalorisation of estates that have historical and architectural value;

the creation of conditions to change the social structure in the revitalised areas;

the creation of conditions for the development of new forms of economic activity;

the enhancement of the cultural potential of the city and its attractiveness for tourists, the enhancement of the inhabitants’ living standard, public safety, health protection and social aid;

the strengthening of the inhabitants’ sense of identity with the city.
