Brownfield sites – state of advancement and perspectives
Introduction
Regional development report that aims at the conversion of brownfields in southern Luxembourg.
Description
This report embraces the development steps (until 2000) in the domain of brownfields and indicates conversion perspectives in the South of Luxembourg. The main condition in developing the area is to integrate relevant actors on national, regional and local levels. The state of Luxembourg and the landowner ARBED had founded a development company in equal shares. Planning is based on the ´Regional Plan South´, a study made by the planning agency AGIPLAN and several masterplans on the different fallow lands. The regional plan has a superior relevance and aims at sustainability goals. The AGIPLAN study analyses and evaluates the potentials of the area in relation to priority areas, multifunctionality, implementation opportunities and integration of the brownfields in the regional context. The first master plan that focuses on the site of Belval-Ouest is especially distinguished.
