Introduction

Urban renewal project in Montauban.

Problem

Revitalising and rehabilitating the city centre; reshaping the urban fabric of the East neighbourhoods.

Description

The municipality of Montauban has managed to obtain a consensus of all the local players on the urban renewal project so that it can benefit from the national urban renovation programme and, therefore, financing from ANRU.

Approach

The urban project is accompanied by a social section, the territorial social project, based on kinship and the quality of the living environment.

Results

East neighbourhoods:

construction of new housing, along with demolitions;
reclamation of the Maison de Quartier;
creation of a media centre.

City centre:

acquisition and improvement of buildings.

Beneficiaries

Inhabitants, families, young people.

State (National Agency for Urban Renovation), Regional Council, General Council, lessors of social housing, Commune of Montauban, Urban community of Montauban Trois Rivières, ERDF.
