ErasmusPC
Introduction
ErasmusPC is an international network for cities and culture. The network focuses on the relation between culture and urban development.
Description
ErasmusPC is an international network for cities and culture. The network focuses on the ways in which culture influences the physical development of cities. Underlying this focus is the believe that many elements of culture (varying from art to cultural diversity) play an essential role in the development of cities and regions. It is an open source and non-profit network with active participants from all over the world.
Participants
Individuals with a passion for cities and culture from all over the world, for example Rotterdam, Dublin, Amsterdam, Brazil, Barcelona, etc.
Objectives
The network’s objectives are:
  1. To research the influence and significance of culture for urban development and urban regeneration. The perspectives of the research are interdisciplinary and international.
  2. To learn from inspiring ideas and projects in cities all over the world.
  3. To share that information and make it available for the benefit of cities all over the world via the ErasmusPC website.
  4. To organize meetings between people from different disciplines and different cities from all over the world on the subject of culture and cities.
Products
  1. Interviews and questionnaires with people from as many different disciplines and cities as possible to research the relationship between cities and culture;
  2. Meetings and festivals for international and interdisciplinary debates about cities and culture;
  3. Summaries of inspiring projects, festivals and books;
  4. The ErasmusPC newsletter.
EU involvement
ErasmusPC’s base is the network of EU’s Erasmus exchange students, who met the first time 15 years ago in Dublin. ErasmusPC is a belated spin-off of this network of friends, who kept meeting annually at the film festival in Rotterdam. In 2005, they decided to start the network ErasmusPC on what brings them together: a passion for cities and a passion for culture. Otherwise, there is no direct EU involvement (yet).
