European New Towns Platform
Introduction
The European New Towns Platform (ENTP) is the European organisation representing new towns. Founded in 2001, the organisation now has 28 members and 8 partners from 10 European countries. The members are local governments from European New Towns. The partners are research centres specialised in local development and urban issues.
Description
On the on hand, ENTP informs its members on relevant developments within the European Union. On the other hand, ENTP lobbies for its members in Brussels, giving European New Towns a voice on the European level. Furthermore, the network organises training for its members on relevant issues, for example on obtaining European funds.
Participants
ENTP has 28 members from 9 European countries. An overview of all members can be found on the ENTP website (see link below).
Objectives
The tasks of ENTP are:
  • To promote exchange of information and experience through workshops and conferences
  • To inform New Towns about the activities of the European Union and relevant programs, especially Structural Funds
  • To encourage development of common concrete projects on environment, culture, urban development and cooperation with third countries
  • To participate in the dialogue with the European Institutions
  • To guarantee more visibility for New Towns
  • To act as an expert and coordinator of INTERREG projects and other programs like Asia-Urbs or Urb-AL.
