National network of knowledge centres for “politique de la ville”
Introduction
The network of regional knowledge centres for “politique de la ville” consists of places of exchange and training for local actors in municipal policy.
Description
The national network of knowledge centres for “politique de la ville” helps combine information and actions, build common working tools (thesaurus, document exchange platform, GIS access, etc.) and facilitate the link between regional and national actions.
The “Comité interministériel à la ville” - CIV (Interministerial Committee for Cities), which convened on 30 June 1998, decided to take new measures in the area of municipal policy “in order to reinforce and support local policies for developing expertise and training. To this end, the government decided to develop the existing network of knowledge centres”.

Network lead
The DIV’s knowledge centre runs the national network of resource centres for municipal policy and helps develop new organisations.
Objectives
Founded on the principle of collective action (territorial anchoring, cross-disciplinary approach to issues and challenges, synergy with research), the knowledge centres provide a forum where practices can be compared and reviewed and where a common culture can be developed between actors in “politique de la ville” and development.

Information holdings services, programmes for professional qualification and exchange, thematic seminars and conferences, case studies documents, consultations and methodological support for actors in “politique de la ville” and development, publications.
