EUROCITIES Urban Research Working Group
Introduction
The EUROCITIES Urban Research Working Group supports the exchange of knowledge between cities and recognises the importance of undertaking research activities to support effective policy-making.
Description
The EUROCITIES Urban Research Working Group organizes meetings and seminars to bring together the Working Group participants and foster the exchange of knowledge and expertise. The Group also monitors relevant institutional initiatives to bring further urban knowledge, such as the Urban Audit and the relevant opportunities within the Community Framework Programmes. The Group also supports project activity.
EUROCITIES Working Group on Urban Research has been established to bring together cities and research institutions in order to achieve a better understanding of the dynamics of urban problems and cities development.

Network lead
The Working Group is chaired by the City of Helsinki and supported by EUROCITIES.
Objectives
The EUROCITIES Urban Research Working Group objectives are to:
  • identify urgent or crucial research needs of cities;
  • promote research activities and knowledge sharing;
  • stimulate better and more efficient use of existing research results;
  • support the transfer of best practices in the field of urban research and policy;
  • contribute to the development of an urban research agenda for the EU;
  • stimulate co-operation among local universities and research institutions dealing with urban issues;
  • give research-based support to the EUROCITIES thematic Forums.
