First annual report of the Observatoire national de la délinquance (National Observatory of Crime)

Introduction
This report proposes a precise diagnosis and an in-depth analysis of all the characteristics of violence, in order clearly to identify this phenomenon and to establish action priorities within the framework of a global and methodical public policy based on evaluation.
Description
The first report by the Observatoire national de la délinquance compiles all the information available on the level of violence in our society, action by the police forces and a voice for victims. The document contains the official statistics for 2005, trends in indicators, an evaluation of methods and tools and the results of the first national victimization surveys. The OND recommends ten new measures, including the creation of an official definition of urban violence.
