Dynamic settlement network – State of the art. GENERAL CONDITIONS OF DOMESTIC SETTLEMENTS

Introduction
This is a comprhensive and detailed analysis about the state of the art of Hungarian settlement network. This study is served for underlying the Hungarian development policy supporting the rising of dynamic settlement structure.
Description
This analysis discusses the general conditions of the Hungarian settlement structure with the main purpose of giving a comprehensive view from the current situation of settlement groups and actual conditions of settlement network in terms of changing relationship between its elements. Particular attention was given to species and quality of connection and interdependence of individual settlements, inequality on local level and controversial areas of nation development policy effecting the settlement network. Problematic fields of recent policies constitute the insufficient developed countryside around Budapest, the lack of powerful regional centres, weakness of functional local centres as well as less favoured settlements and homesteads.
EU involvement
This is a supporting material aims for underlying the Hungarian national development policy for the period 2007-13.
