Introduction
City research, city –identity – research trends and methods of soft social factors to measure the local competitiveness
Description
The lecture covers the research methods of the soft social factors of regional and local competitiveness in urban development. The basic hypothesis has been that a stronger local identity/feeling/mind can make cies/regions more competitive, which can measure as innovaive capacity. The material gives overview on various trends on regional identity based on regional multi-disciplinary science issues. The material summarizes them from a special viewpoint of identity research. The lecure sets directions for further research.
Conclusions
Strong connection was found between successful development, competitiveness and innovationcapacity of a certain region/city and the local identity.
The soiological tools used in the cit-research shown in many different wa the relation of success and identity. The combination of different scientific tools of different disciplines helps to study the factors of success, competitiveness and innovative potential.
The previous studies reinforced the hypothesis .
