The research includes the following issues: different styles in Budapest, their effect on the main image, trends, renewal of Budapest, Offices, Plazas, residential areas, protecting the heritage, infrastructure: water supply system, industrial establishments, transport infrastructure, street furniture, functions and migration, urban art (e.g. sculptures), main quarters of Budapest, legislative background, public administration, lack of concepts, legal and illegal economic pressure, opinions on the future.

While the main image of Budapest is determined by the eclectic style (around 1900), Budapest can be proud of masterpieces in other styles too (classic, secession, Bauhaus etc.). The opinion of the interviewed architect is also diverse: in certain issues their opinion is simply the opposite of each other. Thus this research is a colourful picture of a colourful issue…

17 architect was asked (not named ones) in 2005. The questions were listed, but issues unlisted were also touched upon.

Investors must be curbed. The architectural management must be more flexible, more co-operative, more up-dated. Laws and reality should be brought closer. The demand for quality flats will be higher and higher, and the migration balance of Budapest will go positive soon. The most important facades should be renovated – even if the renovation of the whole building can not be financed. Calming of the car traffic in the inner parts is needed.
