Dynamic settlement network – State of the art. EXTERNAL CONDITIONS OF SETTLEMENT DEVELOPMENT.

Introduction
This is a comprhensive review about the international trends and conditions effecting on development of the Hungarian settlement network. This study is served for underlying the Hungarian development policy supporting the rising of dynamic settlement structure.
Description
The material reveals the state of the art on acting field of European development policy in terms of international trends. First of all it gives an overview about the international tendency of urbanisation and influences of global economic trends on different category of settlements. Further on the study discusses the objectives of the European settlement development policies focus both on metropolitan regions and rural areas as a part of the Common Agricultural Policy and out of the Structural Founds. The main priority of European settlement policy based on the conclusions of the material seems to be the resolve the urban–rural dichotomy, to reinforce the city network and to support the internal structural change of cities. Lack of common rural and village policy seems to indicate many problems in Hungary for the foreseeable future as well. There is an extraordinary high demand on infrastructural improvements and on supporting the feasibility of uphold in the countryside.
