EUREGIA 2008: Business and Territorial Development, Leipzig - 27 October 2008 27-10-2008 Introduction With the Territorial Agenda the EU Member States have adopted a programme for
the shaping of the European space and the promotion of territorial cohesion
within the EU. The Territorial Agenda, within paragraph 44 highlights the
“Business and Territorial Development“ Conference as an important implementation
measure. These objectives of the Territorial Agenda can only be achieved through
an intensive and continuous dialogue between all stakeholders of territorial
development. The economic sector which, due to its investment decisions, exerts
decisive influence on the development of the regions, is of outstanding
importance in this connection.
Description
At this conference, entrepreneurs and policymakers will take up the appeal of
the Territorial Agenda and present joint measures which can improve the
development in the European regions. The focus here is on the territorial
dialogue: Commercial enterprises will, even in times of globalization, continue
to assume regional responsibility. This is documented by the adoption of an "
Business and Territorial
Development" Charter. The “Business and Territorial Development“ Conference is the kick-off event
of this year’s EUREGIA – the trade fair on local and regional development in
Europe, which will take place 27-29 September 2008 in Leipzig.
