The document starts with a comparison of a conventional housing area and a housing area planned according to ecological criteria. In this comparison the advantages of the latter are described using examples such as building according to the original ground level or adopting a north-south alignment. The second part of the brochure gives advice on important details of the housing area. This includes practical planning recommendations with an ecological focus on access roads, residential roads, alignment of houses around courtyards, design of parcels, use of rainwater , transition to stream areas, playgrounds and public green space. The document includes also a German bibliography and an annex with information on local trees and shrubs. All parts of the brochure include several sketches and pictures to visualize the proposals.
