Meet the Challenge! G-4 view of and contribution to the Lisbon strategy

Introduction
The four major cities in The Netherlands (G-4) point out that it is in the cities that the real drivers of a competitive and dynamic knowledge-based economy are found. The G-4 acknowledge their share in government responsibility for implementing the Lisbon strategy.
Description
The aim of the paper is for the G-4 cities to be recognised as an indispensable partner in achieving the Lisbon strategy. They seek to be actively included in drawing up the Netherlands’ national action plan. The G-4 propose city action on a number of policy areas: Cooperation between authorities; Education and work; Sustainable development; and the Knowledge economy.
