Castilla-La Mancha Sustainable Cities and Towns Network, ES

Introduction
Network of cities of the region of Castilla-La Mancha that work together in the development of their local Agenda 21.
Description
Nowadays, the urban way of life, and more particularly industry, transportation, agriculture, consumption and leisure activities, have a clear environmental cost that may not be assumed in the long run. It is thus necessary to achieve sustainability in cities and villages, by promoting a use of material, energy and water resources that preserves the environmental capital.
The Aalborg charter of 1994 establishes principles of sustainable development in urban environments and should be seen as a framework in which municipalities should plan and implement their local Agenda 21. The Castilla-La Mancha Sustainable Cities and Towns Network intends to improve the cooperation between municipalities of the region, thus promoting the interchange of knowledge and experiences and the coordination of their local sustainability strategies.
Participants
Over three hundred municipalities and provinces of Castilla-La Mancha.
Network lead
Federation of Municipalities and Provinces of Castilla-La Mancha
Objectives
Improve and promote the territorial cooperation of Castilla-La Mancha municipalities, both between them and with other public administrations and private entities in a regional, national, European and international level, in order to achieve an integral urban sustainable development.
