The Demographic Risk Map 05-06-2008 Demographic change in Europe is already predictable. It is no future scenario
with an unknown probability of actually occurring, but a forecastable trend: the
population is ageing across Europe, and populations are shrinking at a local
level. But what does it mean for business, society and politics? What are the
effects on business locations in regions across Europe? Answers to these and
many other questions were recently presented by the "Laboratory Demographic
Change" with its new online tool "Demographic Risk Map".
The "Demographic Risk Map" analyzes the impact of demographic change from a
business perspective in 264 regions across Europe on the basis of selected
locations factors. It is therefore the first to provide a direct comparison
between time frames, 264 European regions and 27 countries.
Demographic change entails risks and opportunities when interpreted in
combination with location and contextual factors. Their interplay is captured in
a composite measure for Regional Demographic Location Risk (RDLR). An overall
RDLR measure and separate scores are provided for the fields Labour Supply,
Human Capital, Labour Productivity and Research and Development (R&D).
Field-specific and overall scores render Demographic Location Risks and
opportunities comparable between the 260 EU regions.
Under Regional Demographic Change Data one can find compact
information on whether and how demographic change will affect a region between
1990 and 2030. All data is comparable between sub-periods, 264 regions and 27
countries across Europe.
These maps on both Regional Demographic Change Data and Regional Demographic
Location Risk may be downloaded free of charge to evaluate the demographic risk
of your company's location and your region.
