How do I make the most of the evaluation?

Introduction

A very short note on getting the most out of evaluation findings by putting them to different uses.

Problem

This note sets out to help organisations ensure that maximum value is gained from evaluations and that evaluations produced do not simply sit on a shelf.

Description

This note looks briefly at how to ensure evaluation findings are of maximum value and use. It contains tips on how to write-up findings in a format which meets the needs of a range of audiences and how to give feedback to evaluation stakeholders.

Approach

The approach used in this document is to keep guidance brief so as to be easily digestible. The note is designed to be read alongside Regen WM's other notes on evaluation; 'How do I evaluate?' and 'When is the right time to evaluate?'.

Results

The result is a brief guide to support organisations to make the most of evaluations. The guidance concludes that:

It is important to carefully consider who the evaluation is for and how it will be used.
The final write-up should be adaptable to meet the needs of different audiences.
There is potential for creative thinking about how best to provide feedback to stakeholders on the evaluation findings.
