Tackling anti-social behaviour: Action Frameworks

Introduction
An Action Framework to guide governing bodies/housing committee members, residents and social housing practitioners through the process of tackling anti-social behaviour.
Description
This document contains an Action Framework for tackling anti-social behaviour consisting of two modules – one aimed at governing bodies/housing committee members and residents and the other aimed at social housing practitioners.
The frameworks are intended to be practical tools, taking stakeholders through the core tasks of understanding and effectively working with others to tackle the problems caused by anti-social behaviour in an area.
Both modules consist of key questions, practical fact sheets, case studies, activities and links to websites providing other supporting material.
Methodology
Draws on evaluations into 'what works'.
Conclusions
There are seven core tasks in tackling anti-social behaviour:
  • Identifying the nature of the problem.
  • Recognising and monitoring both individual complaints and organisational policy and practice.
  • Developing preventative measures
  • Develop effective multi-agency partnerships
  • Develop specialist support and training
  • Investigations and witness support measures
  • Taking effective pre-legal and legal action
