Introduction
Provides guidance on how solutions to drug problems can be incorporated into regeneration practice for deprived areas.
Description
This document:
  • presents a guide which seeks to show how, by regeneration and drug practitioners working together, effective services for drug issues in deprived areas can be planned, developed and delivered in line with the national drugs strategy.
  • explains how drugs and deprivation are linked, and why partnerships need to incorporate action on drugs into neighbourhood renewal;
  • describes what can be done at the local level, in terms of: community development, treatment, prevention and diversionary work with young people, environmental changes and place management, and controlling drug supply and related crime;
  • discusses how to measure the impact of action.
