SPP17: Planning for Transport

Introduction
A high quality integrated transport system is important in relation to the delivery of the Executive's wider objectives on economic development, social justice and sustainable development.
Description
A high quality integrated transport system is important in relation to the delivery of the Executive's wider objectives on economic development, social justice and sustainable development.
This SPP advocates a more positive and proactive approach by both planning authorities and transport stakeholders in terms of early engagement in the planning process. The aim is to ensure that planning policies and decisions are made in a way that recognises how the location and design of new development and redevelopment can support the better integration of land use and transport, while helping to reduce the overall need to travel.
