Sets out the Government’s statutory land use planning policies for delivering sustainable development in England.
Description
Highlights the Government’s over-arching objectives for the planning system. Outlines the key principles that should be applied to ensure that development plans and decisions taken on planning applications contribute to sustainable development.
Sets out planning policies for sustainable development in relation to:
  • social cohesion and inclusion;
  • the protection and enhancement of the environment;
  • prudent use of natural resources;
  • sustainable economic development;
  • and integrating sustainable development in development plans.
Describes how to deliver sustainable development, covering:
  • the general approach;
  • spatial plans;

  • community involvement.
