 | From Airport City to Airport Region?, Karlsruhe, 9-10 July 2009 09-07-2009 Introduction Airports have undergone a development from pure infrastructural nodes to
multifunctional service locations. This instance has put airports on the agenda
of different research disciplines. The colloquium therefore wants to bring
together experts dealing with the theme airports and spatial development, but
from different focuses and views.
Description
Disciplines especially addressed in the sessions are: Urban and Regional
Studies, Political Science, Geography, Sociology, Regional and National
Economics, Mechanical and Civil Engineering and also Computer Sciences. Also
municipalities, airport management and regional planning institutions are
invited to give insight into their current practical approaches regarding the
changing function of airports. The event is made possible by funding from the
German Research Foundation (DFG).
